Brand Opt-Out Request

If you operate a storefront and prefer Alate not to read your site, let us know. We will add your origin to our blocklist and stop requesting product pages from it.

How it works

• Alate reads a public product page only for a user who has that page's link: when they paste or share it for a fit check, or when they have copied it and open the app's fit-check panel, so we can show them the product's name and brand before they ask for a check. We never crawl.
• Two follow-ups re-read a page a user already asked about, with nobody waiting on screen: if your store is too slow to read in time, we keep trying in the background for up to six hours; and if a user asked to hear when their size is back in stock, we re-check that one page about every six hours until it is back or the alert expires. Both follow the same opt-out and robots.txt rules as everything else.
• If a user shares a link from your own app (an AppsFlyer OneLink or a similar link service), we ask the link service where it points and then read your product page as above. The opt-out and robots.txt rules apply to your store, not to the link service.
• Every request names us first. The full User-Agent we send is:

  When we ask an app-link service where a link points, we send Alate/1.0 (+https://tessellate.co.in/alate/brand-optout.html) Mozilla/5.0 (Linux; Android 14), because those services answer differently for Android. Some stores build their product pages in the browser; for those we render the one page with a headless browser that carries the same name.
• If your store blocks or challenges us, we stop. A refusal (HTTP 403, 429 or 503) or a bot check such as a CAPTCHA ends the read for that store: we send the shopper to your store instead and do not retry another way.
• We respect robots.txt. To address us, use User-agent: Alate. If your file has no group for us, we follow your * group. Because our full string contains Mozilla, a group naming it applies to us too. If your file disallows the product's path, we stop before reading the page. If your robots.txt can't be fetched at all (for example, your server returns an error), we go ahead and read the page. The opt-out below works either way.
• We do not redistribute scraped data. Product information is shown only to the user who requested it, alongside a "View on Store" link back to your storefront.
• If you want to opt out anyway, you don't need to give a reason. Send us the request below and we'll honour it within 24 hours.

Request removal

Email us with:

• Your store's origin (e.g. yourstore.com)
• A brief note if you'd like to tell us why (optional)
• Your name and role (so we can confirm the request is from someone authorised)
