The size finder button doesn't show
- Is the block on your live theme? The app's Home page checks this for you. If the block is missing, use the link there to add it, or add it yourself through Add block → Apps → Alate Size Finder on your product template. Then press Save.
- Does the product have a body-measurement size chart? The button only shows on products that have one. Open the product in Products and check its size chart, which can be its own, one from a collection, or the shop default.
- Is it a product page? The block only works on product templates.
The size seems wrong
- Check which chart the product uses. It might be picking up a collection or shop default chart meant for a different cut.
- Make sure the chart's unit (cm or inches) matches the numbers in it.
- If it still looks wrong, email us the product link and the measurements you tried.
Common questions
Is it in the Shopify App Store?
Not yet. During early access we set brands up ourselves with a private install link.
Does it change my theme, products or checkout?
No, it only reads from your store. The size finder is a theme app block that you add and remove in the theme editor, and your theme code isn't changed.
Do shoppers' measurements reach my store?
No. Measurements typed into the block go to Alate, which uses them once to work out the size and doesn't store them. Your store only receives the size.
Can I import my existing size guide?
Yes. In Size charts → Import size charts you can scan your product descriptions or paste a size chart table. You check every row before anything is saved.
What are "sizes past your range"?
For each product, it's how many Alate shoppers in the last 90 days were outside your size range and said they'd want a bigger or smaller size. It's just a number, with no names or measurements.
How do I stop back-in-stock alerts for a product?
Open it in Products and tick We won't restock this product under Availability.
What happens to my data if I uninstall?
Everything you entered is deleted straight away, and anything left is erased when Shopify sends its erase request 48 hours later. The privacy policy has more detail.
I don't use the app. Can I stop Alate reading my product pages?
Yes. People using the Alate app can paste any public product link, but if you'd rather Alate didn't read your store, follow the steps on the brand opt-out page.
