Common questions
How does a fit check work?
You answer eleven questions about your body, then give Alate a link to a piece of clothing. You can share it from the store's app or website, paste it, or copy it and open the fit-check panel. Alate tells you which size is likely to fit, in that brand's own sizes, and where it will sit on you. The guide explains how to read the fit card.
Why is my size a number like 38?
Because that's how the brand labels its sizes. Alate uses the brand's own sizes so you can order exactly what the card says.
How sure is the size?
The card shows how confident Alate is and why. A size from the brand's own chart is more reliable than one from a general chart, and a size from a general chart is never shown as sure.
Can I enter my exact measurements?
Yes, with Advanced features, which also let you scan a tailor's sheet and share your measurements. Ask for them in Profile → Measurements under "Enter your measurements". Once we've turned them on, they work on any phone signed in to that Google account.
A brand or link didn't work.
Some stores aren't supported yet. Tap "Notify me when added" and we'll let you know when they are. If a store is just slow, Alate keeps trying in the background for up to six hours. A few stores have asked us not to read their pages or block automated reading, and for those Alate sends you to the store instead.
My size is sold out.
Tap "Notify" on the fit card. Alate will tell you in the app when your size is back, and by email too if you're signed in.
How do I stop a shared measurement link?
Open your Shared links list in the app and tap "Stop sharing" on the link. It stops working straight away. Deleting your account also stops all of your links.
Does Alate work for shoes?
Not yet. For now Alate only sizes clothing.
Do I need an account?
No, fit checks work without signing in. If you sign in with Google, your profile, budget, fit checks and bought pieces are kept in step across your phones.
Where is my data?
Your body profile and fit checks are stored on your phone. If you sign in, we keep a copy in your account so your other phones can get it. The privacy policy has the details.
How do I delete my account?
In the app, go to Profile → Delete account. If you no longer have the app, use the delete your data page.
How do I get the app?
Alate is in early access on Android through Google Play testing and on iPhone through TestFlight. Write to us for an invite.
